Nano Banana Pro vs Nano Banana 2 (2026): 10 Side-by-Side Tests

Irwin

Last updated: November 2, 2026 · Tested on GoEnhance AI

Short answer: Across ten same-prompt tests, Nano Banana Pro and Nano Banana 2 tied on seven. Nano Banana Pro won two — it was the only one to count fruit correctly and it didn't add unrequested text to a product poster — while Nano Banana 2 won one, because it can generate ultra-wide 8:1 banners that Nano Banana Pro doesn't support. Nano Banana 2 costs less than half as much per image at 1K and was faster in our runs, so for most everyday images it is the better value.

Disclosure: GoEnhance offers both models, so we have no reason to favor one. Every image below is the first result from a single API call — no cherry-picking, no re-rolls.

How we tested

  • Models: nano-banana-pro and nano-banana-2 (plus their -edit versions for the two reference-image tests), called through the GoEnhance image API.
  • Settings: 1K, the same aspect ratio for both models, default settings, no web search.
  • Dates: the Nano Banana 2 images for the first eight tests come from our Nano Banana 2.1 vs Nano Banana 2 runs on October 8, 2026; Nano Banana Pro and the two art tests were run on November 2, 2026 with the identical prompts.
  • What we judged: whether each image did what the prompt asked. One run per prompt is a hands-on comparison, not a benchmark.

Test 1: Chalkboard menu text

Prompt: A chalkboard cafe menu titled "MORNING MENU" listing exactly these six items with prices: "Espresso $3", "Flat White $4.50", "Matcha Latte $5", "Avocado Toast $9", "Blueberry Muffin $3.50", "Granola Bowl $7". Hand-lettered chalk style on a wooden frame. All text spelled exactly as written.

Chalkboard menu: Nano Banana 2 vs Nano Banana Pro

Both spelled every item and price correctly. Nano Banana Pro added dotted price leaders and small cup and bowl icons; Nano Banana 2 kept a classic white-chalk look.

Result: Tie

Test 2: Infographic labels

Prompt: Educational infographic titled "THE WATER CYCLE" showing four labelled stages: "EVAPORATION", "CONDENSATION", "PRECIPITATION", "COLLECTION", with arrows connecting them in a loop over a simple landscape with sea, mountains and clouds. Flat vector style, clean sans-serif labels spelled exactly as written.

All four labels are correct on both, and both draw a working loop. Nano Banana Pro adds an underground water layer; Nano Banana 2's layout is a little airier.

Result: Tie

Test 3: Bilingual product poster

Prompt: Elegant product poster for a loose-leaf green tea tin on a bamboo mat. Large English headline "SPRING HARVEST" at the top and the Chinese line "春茶上新" directly below it, small caption "Hand-picked in Hangzhou" at the bottom. Soft natural light, minimal layout, all text spelled exactly as written.

Bilingual tea poster: Nano Banana 2 vs Nano Banana Pro

Both got the English headline, the Chinese line and the caption right. Nano Banana 2 also printed extra label text on the tin ("Hangzhou Spring Harvest, Loose Leaf Green Tea, Net Wt") that the prompt didn't ask for. Nano Banana Pro kept the tin to a simple leaf illustration, which fits "minimal layout."

Winner: Nano Banana Pro

Test 4: Counting

Prompt: Exactly seven red apples and three green pears arranged in a single straight row on a white table, studio lighting, top-down product photo.

Seven apples and three pears: Nano Banana 2 vs Nano Banana Pro

Nano Banana Pro drew exactly seven apples and three pears. Nano Banana 2 drew six apples and three pears.

Winner: Nano Banana Pro

Test 5: Photorealistic portrait

Prompt: Candid street photograph of an elderly fisherman mending a fishing net on a harbor dock at golden hour, weathered hands, natural skin texture, shallow depth of field, 35mm film look.

Fisherman portrait: Nano Banana 2 vs Nano Banana Pro

Both are convincing documentary-style photos with natural skin and hands. Nano Banana 2 frames the fisherman closer; Nano Banana Pro shows more of the harbor.

Result: Tie

Test 6: Ultra-wide banner

Prompt: Ultra-wide panoramic website banner of a coastal road winding along green cliffs above a turquoise sea at sunset, a single red car on the road. No text.

Wide banner: Nano Banana 2 at 8:1 vs Nano Banana Pro at 21:9

We asked for 8:1. Nano Banana 2 delivered it, although at 1K the scene looks stitched together from separate panels. Nano Banana Pro does not accept 8:1, so we ran it at its widest ratio, 21:9, where it produced one clean, continuous scene. If you need true banner proportions, only Nano Banana 2 can make them.

Winner: Nano Banana 2 (format support)

Test 7: Editing a character from a reference image

Prompt (with one reference image): Take the orange robot with the green scarf from the top-left panel of this image and show it alone standing on the surface of the Moon, planting a small flag, Earth in the black sky behind it. Keep the robot's design, colors and scarf exactly the same. Single image, no grid.

Robot on the Moon: Nano Banana 2 vs Nano Banana Pro

Both kept the robot's shape, colors and scarf. Each invented its own flag design: Nano Banana 2 drew an "R" logo, Nano Banana Pro a hand-and-star emblem.

Result: Tie

Test 8: Combining two reference images

Prompt (with two reference images): Show the orange robot with the green scarf from image 1 sitting at a cozy kitchen table in the morning, holding the matte green ceramic mug from image 2 with both hands. Keep the robot and the mug exactly as they look in the references. Single image, no grid, no text.

Robot with mug: Nano Banana 2 vs Nano Banana Pro

Both merged the robot and the mug cleanly into a warm kitchen scene and kept both objects true to the references.

Result: Tie

Test 9: Fantasy concept art

Prompt: Epic fantasy concept art of a floating island city with waterfalls pouring into the clouds at dawn, small airships drifting between towers, painterly brushwork, cinematic composition, highly detailed.

Fantasy concept art: Nano Banana 2 vs Nano Banana Pro

Both delivered rich, detailed scenes with waterfalls and airships. Nano Banana 2 leans warmer and more storybook; Nano Banana Pro is more cinematic, with rope bridges linking the islands.

Result: Tie

Test 10: Watercolor illustration

Prompt: Watercolor children's book illustration of a small fox reading a book under a giant red mushroom in an autumn forest, soft pastel palette, visible paper texture.

Watercolor fox: Nano Banana 2 vs Nano Banana Pro

Both are charming. Nano Banana 2 shows the paper texture more clearly, but it again added unrequested text — a book title, "Forest Tales." Nano Banana Pro's version is cleaner and lighter.
